The perfect romantic venue
March 1, 2017
It’s a romantic time of the year following the annual procession of wedding proposals at Christmas, New Year and Valentine’s Day. Did your loved one propose in the traditional way – down on one knee; asking your parents’ permission first?
We had our first wedding fair on Sunday 22 January and were astonished to see almost 100 brides through our door along with their fiancés and of course the pending in-laws. We had a bustling queue of visitors waiting to come in and after a glass of prosecco, or orange for the drivers, they proceeded to make their way around the array of suppliers.
Our Essex Barn was beautifully laid up by The Event Hire Company, giving the impending wedding couple a chance to visualise their day. Why hold a wedding in a barn? The brides’ faces walking into our Essex Barn was a picture to behold. They could already imagine themselves in their beautiful dress walking down the aisle to meet their intended; the scene was set for romance.
We had suppliers from cakes, flowers, candy carts, and rings alongside other stalls which were all very busy with enquiries. It’s like having a one stop shop for the happy couple.
So, with the wedding fair out of the way and preparing for the next one in October, we are now meeting with the brides and grooms for personal appointments to run through the day with them.
Below are some of the most common questions we get asked, although there are normally many, many more questions.
Q. Where can we have pictures taken?
A. We have a lovely grass area at the side of the hotel where the original moat is. Don’t worry, there’s no deep water! If it is raining (which unfortunately we cannot control) the indoor backdrop of beams makes a stunning picture.
Q. Can my guests stay the night?
A. Yes. Our hotel wedding venue boasts 36 double-bed bedrooms, including family rooms.
Q. Can we bring in our own caterers?
A. No, Luke our Head Chef heads up a team who are articulate in wedding food and ensures that the bride and groom have chosen the menu with their guests in mind.
Q. Can we hold the ceremony at the hotel?
A. Yes. You have to pay a registrar fee and can only book one year in advance. The advantage of this is the guests do not need to make their own way from the ceremony to the reception in cars.
We have the flexibility for appointments and can arrange early evenings or weekend appointments to suit you. So whether you require a large wedding for up to 140 guests in our Chichester Suite, 70 guests in our Essex Barn or even an intimate wedding for 18 guests in our Stable Inn, the Chichester Hotel can accommodate all your wedding requirements.
